2009 NOW. I'm 50. I have always, until today, believed that painting is intellectual and that I need to study more. It's chronic.
Painting is visceral. It is pure emotion first, gut grabbing, finding words later. I no longer need to prepare.

2009 BEFORE. I'm a New York painter. I feel energized walking city pavements.
I use the materials of steel, stoneware, canvas and wool in transformational processes that steam, flash, burn.
I make replica work stations as souvenirs of roadworks sites. The Sublime and Phenomenology are my theses.
The work that I make often gives me a fright.

We use art theoretical strategies 1 to catch you off guard, 2 to send you into a confused vertigo, 3 + 4 to manipulate you to question the status quo. Artists through history have posed questions and agitated for a different reference starting point.

Dada
is abandon. The Sublime is the shock of vertigo. It proves verticality by using drips. Appropriation : borrows the Jackson Pollack drip. Feminine Practice : the drip is in the hands of a female artist. A rectangle, spun, takes up big noisy expressionist guy space, and requires less square inches of work for the amount of real estate it inhabits. It offers not more work and lower pay, but Less Work for More Pay.
